Patient is a 68 year old female who came in complaining of right hip pain after having a surgery to fix a previous right hip fracture. Patient brought in x-rays to review, as shown below, and it was determined that it was the hardware from the previous surgery that was causing the pain.
It was advised that the patient have the hardware removed and undergo a right Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA).
Prior to surgery, patient was advised to have an aspiration of the right hip to rule out infection. Results for the aspiration came back negative for infection and patient decided to move forward with the procedure.
Patient had followed up post-operatively with minimal pain. Patient presented with a good range of motion and was weight bearing as tolerated. Patient has been doing well subsequently.
