Who Benefits from Personalized Knee Replacement: Personalized knee replacement, also known as custom knee replacement, is typically recommended for individuals enduring severe knee pain, stiffness, and swelling that significantly hinder their daily activities and overall quality of life. Common underlying factors for this condition include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic injuries, or other degenerative knee joint disorders.
The Surgical Procedure: Custom knee replacement is a sophisticated surgical intervention in which the damaged knee joint is substituted with a precisely tailored artificial implant designed to harmonize with the patient’s unique anatomical structure. The process commences with the utilization of advanced imaging technology, which generates a meticulous three-dimensional model of the patient’s knee joint. This model is then harnessed to craft a custom implant that flawlessly conforms to the patient’s knee.
During the surgical procedure, the orthopedic surgeon meticulously removes the damaged joint and replaces it with the custom implant. The entire process is conducted under anesthesia to ensure the patient remains pain-free and comfortable throughout.
The Advantages: Custom knee replacement offers numerous advantages to patients, including:
Pain Alleviation: One of the primary benefits is the relief from chronic knee pain. The custom implant is engineered to minimize discomfort, enabling patients to regain their mobility and return to their daily routines.
Enhanced Mobility: Custom knee replacements enhance a patient’s range of motion, allowing for more natural movement in the knee joint.
Improved Quality of Life: Patients frequently experience a substantial enhancement in their overall quality of life as they can once again engage in activities they had to forgo due to knee pain.
Speedier Recovery: Custom knee replacements generally result in quicker recovery times compared to traditional knee replacement surgeries. The precision of the custom implant and minimally invasive surgical techniques can reduce post-operative pain and accelerate the rehabilitation process.
Who Benefits from Hip Replacement: Hip replacement is recommended for individuals grappling with severe hip pain, stiffness, and swelling that significantly impede their daily activities and quality of life. The most common causes of this condition include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, or hip fractures.
The Surgical Procedure: Hip replacement is a surgical procedure involving the replacement of a damaged hip joint with an artificial implant meticulously designed to replicate the natural structure and function of the hip joint, enabling patients to regain mobility and alleviate discomfort.
During the surgery, the orthopedic surgeon skillfully removes the damaged joint and replaces it with the artificial implant. Similar to knee replacement, this procedure is performed under anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort.
The Benefits: Hip replacement offers several advantages to patients:
Pain Relief: The primary benefit is the relief from severe hip pain, enabling patients to regain their mobility and resume their daily activities.
Improved Mobility: Hip replacements enhance the range of motion in the hip joint, providing patients with more natural movement and flexibility.
Enhanced Quality of Life: Patients often experience a significant improvement in their overall quality of life as they regain the ability to engage in activities that were previously challenging or impossible due to hip pain.
Accelerated Recovery: Hip replacement surgery typically results in quicker recovery times, with patients experiencing reduced pain and improved range of motion compared to their condition before the surgery.

About Selden, NY
Selden, located in Suffolk County, New York, USA, is a hamlet and census-designated place within the Town of Brookhaven.
The area now known as Selden was initially called “Westfield” or sometimes “Westfields” by the farmers who settled there in the mid-18th century. Captain Daniel Roe, a notable early resident who fought in the French and Indian War and served as a captain in the Revolutionary War, built a house in Selden before the Revolutionary War.
Captain Daniel Roe Highway is named in his honor, and he is buried in a family cemetery behind the Old Westfield shopping center.
Roe supported the Patriots during the Revolutionary War and played a role in capturing his cousin, Richard Miller, a Tory wanted by the authorities. A school district for the Westfield area was established in 1815, which later became known as District 12 until the formation of the Middle Country Central School District in 1957.
When a post office was established in 1852, the name Westfield was already in use elsewhere in New York. Attorney Henry Selden, although not clearly connected to the community, offered to have it named after him, and thus, Selden was adopted as the name. In the late 1800s, Selden had a population of 88 residents, a Presbyterian church built in 1857, and was known for its melon and vegetable farms.
In the 20th century, Selden saw growth with the opening of the Suffolk County Tuberculosis Sanatorium in 1916, which later became Suffolk County Community College.
The construction of a public school in 1935 and the paving of Middle Country Road in the late 1920s contributed to the changing rural landscape. Suburban development began in earnest in the 1950s, and Selden became predominantly suburban by the early 1970s.
Commercial development along Middle Country Road included the opening of the first Westfield Shopping Center in 1972, College Plaza in 1975, Selden Plaza in 1978, and Independence Plaza in 1992.
Plans to develop a town center in and around Independence Plaza in the early 2000s further contributed to the growth and popularity of “Downtown Selden,” attracting various local and national chain businesses.
In the 2000 census, Selden had a population of 21,861, with 6,809 households and 5,522 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 4,695.5 people per square mile (1,812.9/km2), and there were 7,083 housing units at an average density of 1,521.3 per square mile (587.4/km2).
The racial composition of the CDP was 91.96% White, 1.88% African American, 0.19% Native American, 2.46% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.78% from other racial backgrounds, and 1.72% from two or more racial backgrounds. Additionally, 8.23% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Among the 6,809 households, 43.0% had children under 18 living with them, 65.2% were comprised of married couples living together, 11.1% had a female householder without a husband present, and 18.9% were non-families. Furthermore, 15.0% of households consisted of individuals, and 6.6% had individuals aged 65 or older living alone. The average household size was 3.21, and the average family size was 3.54.
The population distribution within the CDP was as follows: 28.4% were under the age of 18, 8.2% were between 18 and 24, 33.7% were aged 25 to 44, 21.1% were aged 45 to 64, and 8.6% were 65 years or older. The median age was 34 years, and for every 100 females, there were 97.1 males. For females aged 18 and over, there were 93.1 males.
The median household income in the CDP was $58,103, while the median family income was $62,708. Males had a median income of $44,665 compared to $29,973 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $20,577. About 3.1% of families and 5.2% of the population fell below the poverty threshold, including 4.0% of those under 18 and 10.1% of those 65 or over.
