Bald Hill, which is one of the highest points on Long Island, is situated on the Ronkonkoma Moraine. This is where the glacier that shaped Long Island halted its advance. At the summit of Bald Hill lies Vietnam Memorial Park, which includes a red, white, and blue obelisk-shaped monument that was dedicated on November 11, 1991.
