Hip Replacement Surgery:

Purpose: Hip replacement surgery is recommended for individuals dealing with hip joint damage caused by conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or fractures. The primary goal is to alleviate discomfort, restore mobility, and enhance overall quality of life.

Procedure: Two main types of hip replacements exist—total hip replacement (THR) and partial hip replacement (hemiarthroplasty). THR involves the replacement of both the hip joint’s ball and socket, while hemiarthroplasty addresses only the ball component.

Implants: Artificial hip joint components are typically crafted from materials like metal, plastic, or ceramic, chosen based on the patient’s age, activity level, and specific requirements.

Recovery: After the procedure, patients undergo physical therapy to regain strength and mobility, resulting in reduced pain and improved hip function.

Custom Knee Replacement:

Purpose: Custom knee replacement offers a tailored approach to knee arthroplasty, suitable for individuals with severe knee pain or joint damage unresponsive to conservative treatments.

Procedure: Advanced imaging and computer modeling assess the patient’s knee anatomy before surgery, allowing for the design of a custom-fitted knee implant tailored to their unique anatomy.

Benefits: Custom knee replacements often result in improved alignment, stability, and reduced pain compared to standard knee replacements.

Recovery: The recovery process includes physical therapy to regain knee strength and range of motion, typically resulting in reduced pain and improved knee function.

About Massapequa, NY.

Massapequa, located on the South Shore of Long Island in Nassau County, New York, is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) within the Town of Oyster Bay. It serves as the central community in the Greater Massapequa region. According to the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 21,685 residents.

The Greater Massapequa area encompasses not only Massapequa itself but also the neighboring CDPs of North Massapequa and East Massapequa, along with the incorporated village of Massapequa Park. This broader region is home to a combined population of over 75,000 people.

In the 19th century, an author referred to Massapequa as one of the “13 tribes of Long Island.” However, further research has revealed that they were actually a group of Lenape, who were Algonquian-speaking individuals occupying the western part of the island when Europeans first arrived.

These groups were distinguished by the names of the specific geographic areas they inhabited.

The Native Americans residing to the east of Massapequa spoke a different Algonquian language and had connections to the Pequot people of Connecticut and southern New England, both part of the larger Algonquian language family of tribes living in coastal regions along the Atlantic Ocean.

Notable Pequot bands in eastern Long Island included the Montaukett and Shinnecock. Presently, the Shinnecock Indian Nation has received federal recognition and maintains a reservation on the South Fork of Long Island.

Due to the substantial Italian and Jewish communities, the area is sometimes humorously referred to as “matzah pizza.”

Among the 7,417 households, approximately 38.3% had children under 18 living with them, while 73.4% were married couples residing together. About 8.5% of households were headed by a female householder with no husband present, and 15.1% were categorized as non-family households.
