Custom Knee Replacement Surgery:

For Enhanced Mobility and Comfort

Who Needs Custom Knee Replacement:

Custom knee replacement surgery is recommended for individuals who are experiencing severe knee pain and reduced mobility due to conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or injury-related joint damage. If your knee pain is significantly impacting your daily life and conservative treatments haven’t provided sufficient relief, this surgery may be the solution you need.

The Procedure:

Custom knee replacement, also known as personalized knee replacement, is a surgical procedure tailored to your unique anatomy. It begins with a thorough evaluation of your knee joint using advanced imaging technology. Based on this assessment, a custom implant is designed to fit your knee precisely. During surgery, the damaged knee joint is removed, and the customized implant is carefully positioned. The goal is to restore natural joint function while minimizing discomfort.

Benefits of Custom Knee Replacement:

  1. Precision Fit: The custom implant is designed to match your unique knee structure, improving the potential for a more natural and comfortable feel.
  2. Enhanced Mobility: With a precisely fitted implant, you can expect improved joint movement and less pain.
  3. Long-lasting Results: Custom knee replacement can provide long-term relief, allowing you to enjoy a more active and pain-free lifestyle.

Hip Replacement Surgery:

Rediscover Pain-Free Movement

Who Needs Hip Replacement:

Hip replacement surgery is typically recommended for individuals suffering from hip pain, stiffness, or a significant decrease in mobility due to conditions like osteoarthritis, hip fractures, or avascular necrosis. If your hip pain is interfering with your daily activities and impacting your quality of life, hip replacement may be the solution.

The Procedure:

Hip replacement surgery involves the removal of the damaged hip joint and its replacement with a prosthetic hip implant. The procedure is performed under anesthesia to ensure your comfort. The surgeon makes an incision and carefully removes the damaged joint. The prosthetic implant is then securely placed in position to mimic the function of your natural hip joint.

Benefits of Hip Replacement:

  1. Pain Relief: Hip replacement offers substantial relief from chronic hip pain, allowing you to regain an active lifestyle.
  2. Improved Mobility: The surgery can restore your ability to walk, move, and engage in activities without discomfort.
  3. Enhanced Quality of Life: With a successful hip replacement, you can enjoy a more fulfilling and pain-free life.

Both custom knee replacement and hip replacement surgeries are effective solutions to alleviate pain and enhance mobility.

If you are experiencing persistent knee or hip discomfort that limits your daily activities, consider consulting with Dr. Nakul Karkare, a highly experienced orthopedic surgeon, to explore which procedure is best suited to your needs. Dr. Karkare and his team will provide personalized care to help you regain your quality of life through these advanced surgical options.

Shoreham Village is a community located on the North Shore of Long Island, about 70 miles east of New York City. It was incorporated in 1913 and celebrated its centennial in 2013. The site was originally known as “Woodville Landing” in the 19th century, where locally harvested cordwood was loaded onto flat-bottom boats for trans-shipment to New York and to the brick works at Haverstraw on the Hudson1.

In 1900, the name was changed to “Wardenclyffe” by developer James Warden, who established a summer resort and colony on the site after rail service arrived in 1895, linking the area to Port Jefferson and New York City. Inventor Nikola Tesla established his famous laboratory and radio tower nearby. After Warden’s death in 1906, Herbertt Hapgood took over development of the community and renamed it “Shoreham” after Elizabeth Upham, the spouse of one of Hapgood’s development partners Richard Upham.

Until the 1960s, Shoreham Village was primarily a summer community but rapidly transitioned to a year-round community in the 1960s-1970s due to local employment opportunities such as Brookhaven National Laboratory and Grumman, as well as the extension of the Long Island Expressway to Eastern Long Island1.

Today, Shoreham Village has a population of about 550 and an area of about 280 acres. It is vibrant and cohesive with a strong community spirit and a tradition of volunteerism and looking out for one’s neighbors. Villagers are very engaged in recreation, including seasonal water sports and tennis.

The village has some well-established celebrations and traditions such as joyous 4th of July festivities and an annual Labor Day Sunday tennis tournament with rival Wading River that has been played every year since 1924.

Demographics

In the 2000 census, the village had a population of 417 people, residing in 145 households, and belonging to 126 families. The population density was approximately 938.3 people per square mile (362.3 per square kilometer). There were 163 housing units at an average density of about 366.8 per square mile (141.6 per square kilometer).

By 2010, the racial composition of the village was as follows: 72.4% White, 12.6% Black or African American, 4.8% Asian, 0.9% Native American, and 0.2% Pacific Islander. Additionally, 6.2% of the population identified with some other race, and 2.9% had mixed racial backgrounds. Hispanics of any race constituted 16.3% of the population.

Among the 145 households, approximately 38.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, and the majority, 74.5%, consisted of married couples living together. About 8.3% of households were headed by a female householder with no husband present, and 13.1% were non-family households. Moreover, 11.0% of all households were comprised of individuals, and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. On average, each household had 2.88 occupants, and the typical family size was 3.11.

In terms of age distribution, the population in the village was distributed as follows: 27.6% were under the age of 18, 6.2% were between 18 and 24, 17.7% were aged 25 to 44, 36.0% were between 45 and 64, and 12.5% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years, with nearly equal numbers of males and females, with 99.5 males for every 100 females. Among females aged 18 and over, there were 88.8 males.

Regarding income, the median household income in the village was $109,719, while the median family income was $116,985. Males had a median income of $81,873, significantly higher than the median income of $31,250 for females. The per capita income for the village was approximately $37,620.
