Hip Replacement Surgery: Get Back to a Life Without Hip Pain

What it’s all about: Hip replacement surgery is the answer when your hip joint takes a hit from issues like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or fractures. The goal is to make your pain disappear, bring back your mobility, and boost your overall quality of life.

How it works: Hip replacement surgery comes in two flavors: total hip replacement (THR), where we swap out both the ball and socket of the hip joint, and partial hip replacement (hemiarthroplasty), focusing on changing only the ball part.

Your New Hip: Our skilled surgeons select the artificial hip joint components based on your age, activity level, and specific needs. We’ve got a range of materials like metal, plastic, or ceramic to choose from.

Bouncing Back: After the surgery, you’ll partner with a physical therapist to regain your strength and get your hip in tip-top shape. You’ll often find that your pain is a thing of the past, and your hip is back to its old tricks.

Custom Knee Replacement: Your Unique Solution for Knee Pain

What it’s all about: Custom knee replacement is the way to go when your knees are causing you extreme pain, and you’ve tried everything else. We’re talking about a personalized approach to knee surgery, tailor-made for you.

How it works: Before we dive into surgery, we take a deep dive into your knee’s structure. Advanced imaging and computer modeling help us create a knee implant that’s as unique as you are.

The Perks: Custom knee replacements often result in better alignment, greater stability, and less pain compared to standard knee replacements. It’s like getting a knee that’s made just for you!

Bouncing Back (Again): Recovery means working with a physical therapist to build up your knee’s strength and flexibility. This usually leads to less pain and better knee function. Say goodbye to that nagging knee pain!

At Dr. Nakul Karkare’s practice, we’re not just here to treat your orthopedic issues; we’re here to make sure you fully understand your options, feel comfortable with your choices, and get back to living your best life. If you’re ready to take the first step toward a pain-free, active future, let’s talk about how we can help.

History

Smithtown is a town located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. It was founded in 1665 and is part of the New York metropolitan area . The land that would become the town was originally owned by the Nissequogue Native Americans.

According to local historians, it was English settler Lion Gardiner who had helped rescue the daughter of Nissequogue Grand Sachem Wyandanch, after she was kidnapped by rival Narragansetts. Smith, who lived in nearby Setauket, was a friend of Gardiner; it was at Smith’s house where the Nissequogue princess was returned to Wyandanch.

The Grand Sachem awarded a large tract of land to Gardiner as a gesture of gratitude. In 1663, Gardiner sold the Nissequogue lands to Smith. Two years later, colonial Governor Richard Nicolls recognized the sale by awarding Smith “The Nicolls Patent of 1665,” which formally ratified Smith’s claim to the land. Thus, 1665 is considered the founding date of the town .

The border between Smithtown and the town of Huntington is partially defined by Bread and Cheese Hollow Road (Suffolk County Road 4), so named after Bread and Cheese hollow, which according to legend is where Smith stopped on his ride to have a lunch of bread and cheese .

During the Revolutionary War, from 1776 to 1783, Smithtown was under British occupation. Residents suffered poverty, destruction and the loss of property and loved ones at the hands of British soldiers and loyalists . Today, Smithtown has a population of over 116,000 people .
